A Simple and Practical Solution for Housing Water Feature Pumps

Wet Well Pump Station

Equipment Application

Wet wells are used on ponds and water features to house pumps while allowing for fluctuating water levels.  They're also used to pre-screen the incoming water to keep the pumps from getting clogged, and more importantly, for keeping the constructed wetland from becoming clogged.

The installation of the wet wells is critical to ensure adequate water flow even in low water situations that may be encountered in midsummer or drought conditions.

Project Spotlight - (Aquascape Designs)

Project: FONA (Flavors of North America)

Location: World Headquarters, Geneva, IL

Three Snorkel Vault and Centipede Module wet well configurations were designed to house three pumps. The wet wells will conveniently locate the pumps next to the shore of the pond and protect the pumps from larger debris, thereby reducing maintenance and prolonging the life of the pumps. This pumping trio is supplying a total flow rate of 45,000 GPH. Over 1,800 feet of 4: piping was used to carry the water to the waterfalls and filtration systems.

Project Spotlight FONAImage 1: The pond bottom is deepened to allow adequate water flow to the pumps.

Project Spotlight FONAImage 2: The liner or underlayment fabric is used in the excavation as a barrier between the stone and soil.

Project Spotlight FONAImage 3: The Centipede Modules are covered with several layers of 4" to 6" stone which will prefilter the incoming water, providing the pumps with relatively clean water for optimum pumping.
